Wah Fung #1 Fast Food
79 Chrystie Street
(Canal & Hester)
Wow. That's all that can really be said of Wah Fung. No, I'm not talking about the Chinatown bus service from NYC to Boston, but rather the Chinese barbecue place on the Lower East Side.
Lunch specials galore -- pork and rice will set you back $2.50. Eat that, Jared! OK, maybe it's not quite as healthy as the Subway footlong, but man, is it tasty? Given the generous portions, you will feel like you are robbing this place when you walk away with your food -- don't take my word for it, give it a try yourself.
You should note, lunch hour finds this place extremely packed and food takes much longer. If possible, try to go a little before noon, or during a different off-peak hour to avoid waiting in line for your food. That said, you won't regret trying this place!
Amazing deals on apartments are lurking right around the corner, if you know where to look, and when.
